The special place of Chang Hen Ge is that by constantly setting up a transpositional dove's visual angel, which widens her view and makes her go beyond the narrow eyeshot of general feminine writers who are usually limited by sexual causes, Wang Anyi has described a metropolitan Shanghai.First, A mundane Shanghai which is looked after by the notion of balance between man and woman. Feminist's main method of caring for women is to beat man down, but it actually intensifies the conflict. But Wang Anyi has found the uneasiness and exhaustion behind the man-mainstreamed world. So she emphasizes the women's tenacity and the stable mundane lives, which forms a balance mundane shanghai with man's.Second, A historical Shanghai which is established in the woman's whole life process. Zhang Ailing pays more attention to the scattered, segment and legendary stories in her books; but Wang Anyi plasters the life's segment parts in order, and gives us a whole history of Shanghai.Third, A nostalgic Shanghai. In 80-90s 20th, nostalgia was a tide current in literary circles of Shanghai, many feminine writers put emotion to their works. So there is only unilateral prosperity in the past old Shanghai. But in Chang Hen Ge, throng describing the pioneer of old Shanghai-Old Kela whose nostalgia is completely failed, the writer emphasizes the new Shanghai's fresh life-force which steps in international orbit once more. That cause Wang Anyi makes a clear distinction with the congested industry culture market of the old Shanghai. In a word, Wang Anyi has made a new annotation to Shanghai with her special feminine visual angel.
