The purpose of the present study is to investigate by experiments the role of phonological media in reading and memorial writing. More specifically, the paper is to verify whether or not phonological media is respectively involved in the process of reading and memorial writing, and the co-relationship between the phonological medium in both reading and memorial writing processes. Therefore, three experiments are involved in this paper:The experiment 1, which is a brief exposure test, is to investigate whether or not phonological media plays a role in the reading process. If it does, how does it play? -Act as an accompanying phenomenon that occurs after the meaning comprehending or as a bridge filling the gap between the visual perception and the meaning comprehending. As we can see, word recognition may take place prior to the phonological analysis, and our 'perception' of phonological structure may be the result of successful reading access, rather than a precondition for it. The hypothesis of the experiment is that readers' speed of visual perception in the reading recognition will influence the reading effects of meaning retrieval or comprehension. In the experiment, the time of some printed sentences presented on the computer is limited to the extent that the readers have adequate time to carry on the visual perception process but have on the other hand inadequate time to make the phonological analysis take effects. The subjects are 45 college students studying in Wu Han University of Technology selected from 472 students by means of a pre-test. They have same level of reading comprehension ability. They are divided into three groups with each group 15 members. One group is treated as the compared group, which received a normal speed of material reading. The other two groups are treated as the experiment groups presented to different speeds of material reading. The materials for their reading are the same. The result shows that different speeds of material reading can influence the capacity ofreading comprehension of the three groups. The findings of the experiment one are that Phonological Media play a role in the reading process. The experiment two is conducted to investigate whether phonological media exists in the memorial writing. Or whether the sentences, as have been claimed, before could be written down, must be able to or at least have the probability to be spoken out in our heart in advance. So, if we can prove that the way that sentence processing in the brain is by means of spelling out, then we can easily infer that the phonological media is involved in the memorial writing process. So, the hypothesis of the experiment 2 is that, the producing of English sentences in the brain is spelled out according to the word syllables-the phoneme instead of the graphology. That is, the sentences making inside is the reason for the physically memorial writing outside. To make the inner process happening in the brain observable, the experiment 2 designs an original text, which has been recited by two groups beforehand, to the extent that every word in it, has been torn into segments according to and disaccording to word syllables. Such, we respectively formed two new samples, both consists of same number of word segments instead of words, one is of phonological sample, and another is of grapheme sample. And the segments order of every sentence in the two samples is disordered respectively at random. The treatment group recovers the sample of phonology based on their memory; the controlled group recovers the samples of the grapheme. The performing time for the two groups is the same. The result of the second experiment reveals that readers do rely on syllables spelling in their mind in order to make a whole sentence. So, phonological media plays a very important role in memorial writing process. The experiment 3 tries to figure out the interrelationship between the phonological media that are respectively involved in the reading and memorial writing process by examining the effect of memorial writ...
