The pre-store image is formed by interal national and individual cultural knowledge which dominates the choice of scene while painting from nature. Then, by making a comparison of the choice of scene between China and Western nations and between the painters Manette, Wyeth and DongShanKuiYi, the author analyzes in detail the influence of national and individual cultural knowledge on the choice of scene and arrives at a view-point that accumulation of cultural knowledge is proportional to the ability to choose scene and that the choice of a satisfactory scene should pay much attention to the accumulation of cultural knowledge. In the last chapter, considering today in the teaching of scene painting a common phenomenon existing among teachers and students that no serious regard is paid to the study of cultural theories, the author puts emphasis on the importance of the accumulation of cultural knowledge and puts forward some correspondingly suggestions egarding how to accumulate cultural knowledge effectively.
