The Artistic Appeal Of Graphic Character In English Typography

English character is a kind of visual symbol. The graphic design of English character is an important part in visual communication design and is used frequently in the field of advertisement design, poster design, logo design, book design. In order to show more connotation of a character, the design of graphic character is a process of making a rational conceptual symbol into a living visual symbol in the foundation of character' s expression of customary meaning and emotion and by using colorful imagination and different art technique. In a graphic-character, character meaning is the basis of graphic form, and graphic makes the character more living and individual, so a graphic character is much better than an ordinary character in the aspect of descriptive function. In the visual age of information exploration, a graphic character must be a brilliant descriptive form which can avoid being flooded by the information ocean. This paper focuses on which kind of English graphic character possess more artistic appeal according to the knowledge of propaganda,psychology, visual aesthetic and design theory. It can be concluded that a graphic-character full of artistic appeal must be simple, special and animated in its form as well as be full of emotionwhich can touch the audience deeply and clear their spiritual world .English character can be a kind of vivid artistic appeal design element in the point of information,visual and art aspect. The research focuses on the English graphic character can help us know more about the relationship between graph and character then we can design the English character better and gain some rules of visual communication design from it.
