For a long time, the art of chorus has often been considered as mass singing by people ,and even by some professionals working with music. Due to historical reasons, chorus initially took the form of mass singing. But till now, the criterion for good chorus remains unchanged because it stresses accurate pronunciation, singing in unison and resounding voice, which becomes a disadvantage whether for chorus specialist training or mass education. This thesis points out that the key problem lies in the separation of chorus art and culture, the traditional thought of considering chorus as propaganda and commemoration. As for it true nature, form and mode of living . Therefore the understanding and interpretation of chorus should base on its original culture. Only from cultural perspective can we elucidate chorus aesthetically and present widely accepted art works. The best chorus is certainly based on common understanding .Of all chorus works ,huang zi' s have typical meaning and representative function in early china ' s chorus creation. In the thesis , his work are analyzed in the following 3aspecls: part generally analyzes his major chorus works ipart two discusses his aesthetic thoughts on music ;and part three provides aesthetic evaluation for his major works though combining Chinese traditional music culture and his enlightening thoughts and tries to represent the unique beauty of the two aspects in hiswork. This thesis is also expected to be contributive to the study of Chinese chorus art.
