On Feminism Of Bai Juyi

The female sex is another independrnt part of the human society,which is both different from and related closely to the male sex .And feminism refers to the ideas about the nature, conditions and valucs of women's existence. In his works, the poet Bai Ju-yi described various women of different walks from different points of view with different attitudes. Bai Ju-yi,in his early works,dercribed women's life of different walks,paying closer attention to women's sufferings and spiritual demands, showing pity for their unfavorable fate and respect to their dignity as human beings. It was magnificent for Bai to call on women to struggle for their own human rights and happy life. Compared with his early works, in his later works concerning women,Bai Ju-yi held an innocent and cqual view on women less abroad and profoundly. The changes in Bai'attitudes towards women were attributed to his double status as a feudal senior official and a literati, his political experiences, his Confucian ideas of entertaining land under the heaven and caring about oneself, as well as his sensitive nature,which made him pay more attention to the female sex and affected his feminism together with his experiences and his thoughts. No matter whether in his early or later works,Bai Ju-yi felt affectionate to the female sex, and he paid more attention to women's fate than any other poets before him, which is more advanced and surpassing.
