Study Of XinLiXue's "Li" Of Feng Youlan

Feng Youlan is an influential philosopher and one of the members of New Confucian in the twentieth century. His thoughts is wide and profound, first of which is XinliXue which is created earlier. Academic circles usually lay stress on his thoughts and make great achievement respectively. But few people pay attention to his "Li" as to grasp his thoughts historically. In fact, "Li" is an old and important category in philosophy of China. Chengzhu made it the highest category of their philosophy. Then Feng youlan continued studying "Li" by using logical and analytic method to modify it, finally he attain his Xinlixue. In a sense, it is an embodiment of his philosophical ideas. Because he abstracted its meaning and made it logical, there is some difference between his and Chengzhu's "Li". It manifests his method has the characteristic of dichotomy; as a result, there is innate paradox between his method and his ontology. Therefore, he used the method of intuition to reach the final spirits level and return the special spirits of traditional philosophy of China. It fully expresses the theorical character, which is to continue the old and to create the new. It is referring and enlightening in the development of our philosophy.
