In The Early Days Of Liberation, Feng Youlan Turned To The Internal Reasons Of Marxism

Feng Youlan,the double identity of the philosopher and the historian of philosophy,had a great influence on the Chinese academic circle in twentieth Century,with his great achievement of "three books of history and six books".In the course of Feng Youlan's philosophy,a phenomenon of great value is his idea transformed from his “New Rational Philosophy” to Marxism.Although there is an objective factor in the specific social environment,it is more important that Feng Youlan himself also have the intrinsic motivation to turn to Marxism.First,there is a certain tension in the theoretical system of "New Rational Philosophy",which was created by Feng Youlan before liberation.This theoretical predicament is manifested as the "new Rational Philosophy" system is difficult to make a reasonable reason for the ancient "Differentiating Generality and Particularity" in Chinese philosophy.Feng Youlan failed to properly classify his logical and temporal discussions.And the spirit of the Chinese philosophy advocated by Feng Youlan also has two shortcomings.On the one hand,Feng Youlan overemphasizes the importance of the bright realm of "through the void",but despises the concrete practice of the daily life which is directly related to the "the golden mean";on the other hand,the connection between “acme” and “the golden mean” is only to reflect on the daily use of human nature with "through the void",and does not mention the role of "doing as the golden mean" to "reaching the acme".Secondly,Feng Youlan came into contact with Marxism during his travels in Europe,and began to use historical materialism in 30 s and 40 s.Although it still has some limitations on the use of historical materialism in his On New Things.The breakthrough on historical view made it gradually understand Marxism and gave it the initial good feeling,which created the possibility for his later thought to turn to the Marxism.Thirdly,Feng Youlan's explanation of "the relationship between Subjective and objective " has made him not only understand the fact of Marxism entry into China,but also have the possibility to integrate it into it,and a series of successes achieved by Marxism in China have also confirmed some of Feng Youlan's ideas put forward on the occasion of "Zhen Yuan" and finally contributed to the change of his thought.
