This paper takes evolement of artistic forms of Lin Fengmian and, Pablo Picasso, two famous modern artists at home and abroad, as examples. It intends to explore how their times, traditional culture and individual elements influence their works, so as to investigate the transformation from natural form to artisticone and acquire some useful inspirations.The following parts are involved in this paper:The first part, introduction, concentrates on the emergence and relationship between natural realism in arts, which highlights initation on nature and modernists, which posses the opposite idea to realism.The second part tries to analyze their background and artist education they accepted, from which we can see: the distinctive appreciation for the artists is a must in their works of art. As material existence, works of art certainly need skills and technique, otherwise, none can be consummated.The theird part aims to discuss the background and theoretical origin of art. The western painting originated in the late 19th century and the early 20th century, during which period the capitalist economy developmed rapidly. Meanwhile, some negative effects were followed and this resulted in resistence from people. Unsatisfied with the impressionist principles, post-impressionist, however, started their new pursue. " Drawing does not mean following the nature simply, but working parallelly with it." This was initiated by Paul Cez-anne and abided by the modernists. This marked the beginning of modern arts.The fourth part expounds Lin Fenmian and Pablo Picasso who searched forinspiring factors in this rainbow artistic world. "Like bees absorking elite from flowers." and then fashioned their own styles.The fifth part tells what we have learned from these two persons- their art innovation, changes of their cognition and shapes of their styles. That is, there might not have ingenuity in arts, unless you are ready to be initiative all along.The sixth part, conclusion, raises that we should measure their works by different criterion, as the development and advancement of history goes on further. In conclusion, their works are refined and has transformed from natural to artistic form.
