Baroque art, as a widespread artistic style in 17th century, forms a new artistic language with its own characteristics, hence it occupies a very important position in the western artistic history. This thesis makes research on Baroque art, a school of western artistic traditions, with focuses on such factors as the awakening of irrationality and the input of emotions, analysis on the "motion" it creates as well as illustration of the important role of "emotion" and "motion" in the artistic language expression, which carries the academic significance in the aesthetic tendency of artistic theories and practices in the present China.Of the three parts of the thesis, the first part explains the formation of Baroque style and analyzes the significance of subject's consciousness in the artistic practice. It also reveals the fact that the awakening of irrationality is the natural result of the historical development, which sublimates spiritual and revolutionary aspects of art. The second part introduces that Baroque artists, urged by emotions, creates "motional" artistic language and pays more attention to the impact on sight and soul, which reflects the disturbance in 17th century. The third part points out that in the form of artistic expression Baroque art goes from physical truth towards the artistic truth rather than stick to the images of objects only, which exerts great influence on the present artistic practices.
