Language planning and language normalization are always being concerned with by linguists all over the world. We may safely say that all linguistics concentrated on normalization before the 19th century. Many famous linguistic scholars are deeply involved in the studies on language normalization. Since entering into the 20th and 21st centuries, researches on language planning and normalization have become much deeper and broader.As a language with long-standing cultural history and wealthy cultural connotation, Chinese language has more chances to experience infinite variation and gradual improvement in the course of development and advancement. In recent years, especially in the late two or three decades, great changes have taken place in our living language. Many new kinds of pronunciation, terms and grammar have emerged. They have enriched our language life on one hand, but exerted a pervasive impact to the existed language norms on the other. Opposition from the two attitudes as normalization and anti-normalization has become a new. hot point in the new period.This thesis, from Socio-linguistic perspective, makes an exploration on the newly emerged elements in present language life. Depending on the research on new words and sentence structures occurring in various periods, the author summarizes the forms and features of the newly emerged elements. Also, from the angles of social backgrounds, cultural backgrounds and psychological factors, the author analyzes the reasons for the emergence, application and spreading, as well as theirinfluences on the development of language system. Resorting to Rubin & Jernudd's, Haugen's and Tauli's theories on language planning, and absorbing the theory products of linguistics in China, the author analyzes the relationship between language planning and language normalization, pointing out that timely language normalization is not only necessary but also important.The author compares the development of language as a rolling ball, and visually explains the status and function of newly emerged elements in the rolling forms. Facing various attitudes and debates on how to deal with the newly emerged elements, the author, after making a theoretical study, gives out her own opinion definitely that they are the indispensable recruitments in language advancing. In the course of the interaction between language and society, newly emerged elements are not only the products but also the impetus of language and society development. As to newly emerged elements, we shouldn't just receive or refuse them blindly, but should accept them, analyze them, guide them and normalize them. This paper divides the newly emerged elements into five categories and provides them special normalizations respectively.
