Native Discourse Resources Where The Chinese Feminist Criticism Originated

The western feminist criticism, which was introduced to China since the late 1980s, is the direct and primary discourse resource of Chinese feminist criticism.While absorbing it for reference, we should not ignore the native discourse resources from which the Chinese feminist criticism originated. Namely, the Confucianism-centered philosophy and traditional culture, the Women's Liberation discourse in the context of modern enlightenment and that of the period between the founding of PRC ana the early 1980s.Chinese national characters and cultural trends are subject to the internal restriction of the Chinese ethnic culture of integrating family into nation, the philosophy of harmony between man and nature and the thought of harmonious unity of Yin and Yang. A further study of the Chinese philosophy and cultural heritage will give us insights into the differences between Chinese and western feminist criticism. Furthermore, it will generate on this basis a native feminist theory of China .Women's Liberation discourses, contained in the vivacious and rich modern enlightenment discourses which have been under a continous research by thescholars, demonstrate the following characteristics--founded in the language ofthe class and nation, probed with consciousness and practicality with close attention paid to the working women of lower class.Combing through the data of Women's Liberation discourses of this period and analying the deeper reasons for its growth will be of great benefit to the reflection of the theory of Chinese feminist criticism, thereby, define the way for its contemporary development.The study of Women's Liberation discourses during the period between the founding of PRC and the early 1980s probed into the distortion and loss of women's identity in the social reform and cultural changes.Once again the attention and revaluation to women issues were evoked in the academic circle, which directly constructed our horizon of expectations to varied theories of western feminist criticism and inluence and restrict our understanding and acceptance for them.Briefly, resources of Chinese native discourse has its own features and attractiveness. They not only existed in history but are still constructing our presentsituation. Therefore, the construction of Chinese feminist criticism should be deeply rooted in the local discourse resources. Only in this way will the theories have Chinese characteristics and a solid foundation, on which we will graduatlly accomplish the "two-v/ayed elucidation" of Chinese and western feminist criticism by breaking away from the unfavorable balance situation in the reciprocal exchanges of literary theories.
