This paper mainly aims at the text analysis of play in Children' s Literature.It is composed of three parts.Part one: an introduction, tracing the theoretical reason for the play in Children' s Literature. Besides briefly introducing research purpose for this paper, it mainly focuses on searching for the causes of play in Children's Literature from the theoretical point of view, which is quite necessary to make clear before making text analysis. The paper argues that the reason for the connection between Children' s Literature and play is that children's play bear the characteristic of entertainability, imagination and freedom, all of which are essential for Children's Literature. Children are looking forward not to serious moral lessons but to releasing amusement; They expect an imaginary world where they can wander freely, which they can obtain only through playing; The freedom of players act Children's Literature out well to the core that children tend to come near plays is mainly in that they can flee from constraints and acquire freedom.Part two: the body, text analysis of play in Children' s Literature. Text is a multi-dimentional system and the play is mainly expressed through dimensions of rhetorics, contents and meaning. The play lying in rhetoric dimension is the easiest for readers to perceive and feel. However, some rhetoric approaches just go beyond the meaning of language and turn into effective ways for the creation of Children' s Literature, for example, hyperbole, irony, sythesis, order change and suddeness ; The play at content level mainly shows itself by absurd heroes happening in the plays, image of stories and pleasant playing; the play on meaning dimension lies in the deep structure of literary works. Combining with emotions of text, they create entertaining atmosphere. Through above three dimensions, text of play conveys the spirit of playing: changing of rules,constrains of dissemination, deconstruction of orders and adoration of ecstacy. At the same time, it can display itself enough only through a complete textual system, only with perfect combination of all aspects of texts, can they reveal those comprehensive potential of playing.Part three: conclusion for further discussion, some thoughts on play of text analysis in Chinese modern and contemporary Children' s Literature. Compared with foreign classic works of Children' s Literature, many weakness can be found in ours and this is mainly in that Chinese writers have not taken play as the symbol of young life for freedom, extreme happiness and rich imagination, but as means and methods to persuade children, that is "enjoyment embedded in teaching" , which will doubtlessly undermine play of texts in the real sense. Therefore, to create excellent entertaining works of Children' s Literature, Chinese writer' s have to reflect on their views on children and children' s education and break traditional tendency of literature creation.
