Nevertheless, their works are different. By comparing the difference between the two kinds of works, the essay reveals the important value of them in their historical consciousness, literary creation and spiritual construction. The essay consists of four parts.Part I: Examine the Prime Time of the Reformation of Ming Dynasty and Qing Dynasty with the view of Modern RationalityThe two authors stand at the height of modern time to reflect on this special stage. They both show the distinct modern-consciousness and the historic view of the great open China. However, their reflections on history lay particular emphasis on different points. Ling Li focuses on the historical inquiries about the destruction cause of Ming Dynasty and the philosophical research on the mystery of Qing Dynasty's thriving history while Er Yuehe focuses on the glorious thriving history of the two dynasties. Er displays fully the glory and meanwhile exposes the inevitability of the feudal system's destruction. Part II: Historical Truthness and Artistic TruthnessIn the works of the two authors, the major figures and events are from history while the minor figures and events are created with artistic fabrication and are given full play to creation. There's the unity of historical truthness and artistic truthnessin the works of the both. However, there is difference between them. Ling Li stresses on the research on historical personization and transfers the history into lively mind story and love history while Er Yuehe associates and fabricates much more freely.Part III: Reflection on the Traditional Culture and Reflection on the Comparison between the Western and the Eastern Culture The two authors both give description and analysis on the essence and dross of the traditional culture by showing the idea of benevolent government and creating in mass the images of feudal intellectuals. However, they differ from each other. Ling Li has a wider field of vision. She gives a hologram to the images of the feudal intellectuals and has a comparative reflection on the Western and the Eastern cultures. Er Yuehe dialectially analyzes the feudal scholars' idea of "getting into the world" and "getting apart from the world", the traditional cultural function on the nation administration and relief and the effect of political intelligence. Part IV: Different Kinds of Narrative StyleThe two emperor series are both highly praised, by experts, of the profound thought and the artistic grade. They are readable and loved by their readers. Nevertheless, they differ greatly from each other in the narrative style. Ling Li's is of elegant poetic style while Er Yuehe's is of a narrative style with a blend of elegance and vulgar. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Ling Li, Er Yuehe, history, traditional culture, narration | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
