Zhang Ling is one of the representative writers of the new immigrant literature. Her novels have a strong sense of space and form different types of space under the cross-culture perspective. These spaces are staggered and juxtaposed, with rich cultural implications and aesthetic values.Through the construction of the spatial form of the novel,Zhang Ling demonstrated the immigration life of overseas Chinese from the perspective of pluralism and inclusiveness, and incorporated unique considerations of self-identity,ethnic identity, and the destiny if women in order to make the novel universal. This study uses Zhang Ling's novels as research objects. The full text consists of three chapters. The first chapter explores the narrative space in Zhang Ling's novels from the story level, analyzes the reasons for the formation of the sense of space, and divides the narrative space in Zhang Ling's novels into three basic spaces:the "original township" space, the "hometown" space, and the "third space".The second chapter starts from the discourse level and studies Zhang Ling's construction of the "spatial form" of the novels, specifically expounding the constitutional form and narrative function of the juxtaposed structure, the circled structure, and the piebald structure. The third chapter discusses the significance and limitations of the spatial form construction of Zhang Ling's novels. The significance of this research is to break through the research framework of linear narratives and to explore the emotional orientation and cultural identity that Zhang Ling embodies in the construction of different spaces. In the interpretation of different types of space,Zhang Ling emphasized the unique emotions and reflections of the "original township" cultural ties.At the same time, she used the space of "foreigners" as a reference to demonstrate the complex mentality of immigrants.Proceeding from the spatial form,we study the effect of spatial structure in the text on the narrative narration and its unique expressive effect. It also shows Zhang Jian's reflection on cultural traditions, ethnic identity, and female identities in the novel's innovation of spatial forms, and the inclusive and open concept of culture.provides a new idea for the study of overseas Chinese literature.I hope to provide a new idea for the study of overseas Chinese literature.
