It means to probe the artistic styles of Chinese TV play in this article. Chinese TV play follows a very different way of development rather than those of foreign ones. It has already formed some of its own unique artistic styles, and grew up to be an independent and burgeoning art in a short period of no more than 50 years. However, it is weak in the study of art and aesthetics. Still some people consider it as entertainment and "cultural snack", which is not very harmonic with its high-speed development in creation and practice. This article systematizes Chinese TV play's growing environment and the aesthetic developments and changes, analyses the aesthetic styles in its mature period and the permeating of its nationality and modernity by an angle of the accepted aesthetics, study of communication and psychology; it explores the theory of Chinese TV play's artistic styles deeply, and establishes its artistic position, which is believed to be a profitable attempt.This article is divided into four sections.The environment for Chinese TV play to become art. The very special conditions of China supply a appropriate environment for the development of TV play. Policies and finance from the government make the creators have enough time and money for their creation, moreover, the authors' serious attitude and the acceptors' psychology who treat TV play as art appreciation make it follows a way of art creation. Furthermore, an adequate space for its development is supplied by a specialized environment of communication and acceptance as well as the decline of traditional arts. Developments and changes of Chinese TV play, In its process of development, Chinese TV play has underwent three stages: dramatic aesthetics, movie aesthetics, and TV play aesthetics. In the first stage, it takes the form of "living broadcasting drama", in fact it's drama of living broadcasting. In the second stage, it takes the form of record and broadcasting and borrows some methods from movie, which makes it promotes itself greatly in both language and skills, and establishes the structure of one-script play. In the last stage, TV serials become the main form and it established the distinguishing TV play aesthetics.Accompanied with its developments, the aesthetic characters of TV play is on the road toward the artistic consciousness step by step.. Chinese TV play's aesthetic styles in its mature period.This section establishes Chinese TV play's artistic position by expounding upon the aesthetic styles such as the narrative ability, strong folk nature, continuity, dramatics, language, form and communicating characters. In the "writing" of significant historical processes, social contradictions and hot spot problems, in the representation of the ways of world and in the adaptation of classical works, Chinese TV play shows its grand narrative ability. TV play's watch is popular to the masses, so folk popular utterance is in its element in TV play. The folk nature permeated through every corner of TV play, from the discourse form, cultural pattern to the internal structure (folk covert structure), which makes TV play have more affinity. TV play usually organizes its plots relying on conflicts; it is based on the dramatic situation, and uses coincidence and contingency to seek dramatic effects, furthermore, suspense is an important facture in TV play. However, dramatics does not mean dramatization and staginess; TV play seeking dramatics does not mean chamber opera is the most "televised" play. In continuity, TV play absorbs nutrition from the scripts for storytellings and the serial novels and formed a special external structure. What's more, it creates a series of regulations in the use of audiovisual language. During the process of communication, TV play turns itself into the most popular form of art for its wide-ranging and permeating of communication.
