Comments On Women's Achievements In Poetry And Lyrics In The Qing Dynasty

Concealing under unprecedented prosperity of women's creation on poetry and lyrics in the Qing Dynasty, there are certain delicate changes, including such contemporary backgrounds as economy, culture and education. Unparalleled superiority that cultural and educational environment is built for women in the Qing Dynasty dominantly contributes to that prosperity. Furthermore, a detailed discussion on the appearance and character of women's flourishing creation on poetry and lyrics can be helpful for us to achieve an overall and factual understanding of the theme in this thesis.Before discussing on women's achievements on the creation of poetry and lyrics, this thesis firstly focuses on making a query of traditional valuation criterion on poetry and lyrics, in order to averting the prejudice which has long been formed during our appreciation on those works. Then, in view of quantitative proportion possessed by different subjects, the thesis makes discussions respectively on three kinds of subjects, into which women's works of poetry and lyrics have been divided. The way above can assist us better and factually understanding women's creation on poetry and lyrics at that time, and thus avoiding purposely overstating or belittling about them. After that, aconclusive statement is made on the artistic style of women's works of poetry and lyrics in the Qing Dynasty.However, some limitation revealed in women's achievements on poetry and lyrics has also been closely concerned. So this thesis, from different aspects, makes a comprehensive analysis on the causes which lead to that limitation, and finally proves the inevitability of the limitation as above in the society dominated by men.
