Research On The Change Of The Novels At The End Of Qing Dynasty By Studying Monthly Novel

Monthly Novel, as one of the top four journals of novel at the end of Qing Dynasty, was burn in November 1906, and stopped in January 1909. It mainly published novels written or translated. This paper, targeting on Monthly Novel, analyses the difference between ancient novels and novels at the end of Qing Dynasty from three aspects and its change into modern novels. Through the emphasis of Monthly Novel on sermon, we can understand the change of idea on novel writing, the rising-status of the novels, the conversion of the refined taste into the popular taste; Through the innovation of the themes and change of the chapters, we can understand the change of way of writing at the end of Qing Dynasty; Through the innovative way of narrative time, the control of narrative angle of view, and simplified details, we can see the change of narrative pattern. I sincerely hope the paper's study on this longly ignored topic can help the relative research in the future.
