Color of Traditional Chinese Painting (TCP) has gone through a very tortuous develop process. How about its evolution and what influence it bring to the trend of TCP? So it seems to be very necessary and valuable to analyze and explain its historic development.Chinese wash painting language wouldn't abruptly appear. Color and ink would be bred and developed at the same time, but wash painting had been developed to the extreme levels by scholars in some special periods. In my thesis, with the development of TCP as main clue, I describe and discuss the color aspect of some important historic period and the whole trend of its development, expound painters and their works combining with painting theories.In first part, I set forth the production and development of color and wash painting. Any national painting would be closely related to national philosophical thinking. Color of TCP is a metaphysics system based on traditional philosophy. It reflected spirit of "He", produced and developed in color and ink aspects under oriental cultural spirits, organize frames with the method that delineates lines and fills in color.In second part, I describe the completeness of color system and the beginning of wash painting. From Qin and Han Dynasties to Tang Dynasty, Chinese society was in the rise development stage of feudal society. Chinese culture presented a ardently exocentric and initiative essences, and culture function of painting appeared, so color occupy a leading status. Along with the decline of feudal society, culture spirit started to come into introspection. Wash painting, on behalf of literary spirit, started to separate from Chinese painting of color, which broke the concordance of color and ink.From Tang Dynasty to the end of Qing Dynasty, wash painting language was developed to the extreme by degrees. In third part, I describe the main reasons of wash painting being as leading in Chinese painting. Because of many different reasons, the position of color in painting had been cut down, even neglected, then wash painting became the leadings while scholars had acquired psychological balance and the unique aestheticsense, they had been lost in limitations of skills and produced disagreements between traditional language and modern expression of emotions.In modern times, because western culture swarmed and collided to China, many painters devoted themselves to painting innovation and development, and facilitate that Chinese paintings turned to another directions. Now in international conditions, painters pursued to express present and ego, their creation present sticking together and development between nature and autonomy. Color of Chinese painting takes shape many-faced situations.On the whole, color of Chinese painting has gone through a tortuous develop process. Facing the reality life, we should establish the valuation of color in the painting elaborate transmit advantages of vision, and admit the many-faceted. Through the method, we explore new expressions in practice, expand languages of expressions modern emotion, and transform the traditional painting language texts to the modern ones. |
