Pi'ya is the most peculiar imitating works of Er'ya which embodys the revolution and development of Ya Xue and is a masterpiece of Chinese linguistics and philology in the Song Dynasty. The origin of Pi'ya and the usage of its terms are discussed in the paper. It also compares Pi'ya with Er'ya and Guang'ya in terms of content and form. Besides, the paper summarizes slangs of pre-song and the Song dynasty, and citation from Zi'shuo written by Wang Anshi. The paper makes an attempt to give the objective appraisal for the advantages and disadvantages of Pi'ya.. By doing so, Pi'ya's value and technical characters are revealed. All these consolidate its position in the history of dictionary and the history of Ya Xue.
