During a long period of teaching process, I have noticed that there is huge difference of College English school records among students in the same study situation. The study results are usually unsatisfactory, esp. for those who have strong will to study well,. After a careful investigation and analysis, I have found that the reason that students get low scores is not because their IQ is low, but because they are lack of good management or suitable study methods. That is to say, they are short of effective learning strategies. It is well-known that independent learning strategy is one of the most essential elements for the ability of independent learning. Therefore, at present, since there has been a growing concern about developing students' independent learning ability in foreign language teaching, it is quite necessary to promote the training of such ability. After that, the society can be satisfied with high quality students.This paper is intended to focus on the issue of English strategies training which closely relates to learner autonomy. The author will present and analyze the issue for an initial discussion of the necessity of strategy training. Then, there is some comparison and analysis about the training of foreign language independent learning strategies in both China and foreign countries. It aims to absorb useful information from other countries for the improvement of such training in China. In addition, the main contents of the training of English independent learning strategies is involved in this paper and the advantages of the College English teaching model based on such training are emphasized. At last, taking advantage of abundant working experience coming from herself and others, the author will carefully conduct the experiment about the training which combines the strategy sense with specific language learning strategies through indoor and outdoor training. Its purpose is to discuss the training method and to know the status of improvement of English scores and to find the problems of present training of autonomy strategies and to sum up some questions to be improved in later English teaching. In this experiment, the result displays that the training of English independent learning strategies can stimulate to improve the English scores of students. In addition, the result also proves lots of problems in the teaching process of College English. A certain experience will be acquired from this experiment.
