Machine translation (MT) imitates the processing of human language translation by using a computer system to realize the correspondent translation between different languages, which makes the result of translation reach or achieve approximately the standard of human translation. The key issue are natural language (NL) expression versus the implementation of computer operation.Based on the syntactic and semantic analysis of NL, the basic research method establishes linguistic knowledge, builds linguistic patterns, and then establishes a linguistic analyzer to complete the language translation.Along with the development of computer science and more research in natural language processing, research of the Chinese-Korean machine translation system is very significant. In order to realize the further goal of processing large real text, and prepare for the foundation of the information highway, it is important to complete a Chinese –to –Korean machine translation system with extensive coverage area, high accuracy, more understandable result, and high robustness and openness. In this paper, I first survey the history and newest trends of the Machine translation system. Through briefly surveying the history of Machine translation research, I indicate the latest achievements and development trends in the area. Then I introduce the basic grammar theory and algorithm used in our system. After summarizing the ambiguity phenomena in Chinese parsing, I put forward my solving strategies. On the basis of the above work, I design a unification-based Chinese parser and generator. The property of the system and my conclusion is given in the end.The system uses unification-based formal grammar and the Tomita parsingalgorithm. The parallelism enables the algorithm to get the best possible parsing results with relatively high efficiency. The paper proposes a kind of pragmatic-semantic description for sentence meaning representation by combining the case grammar and other grammatical theories, which include:1. Machine translation can be separated into the two stages: analysis and generation.2. Language generation is an important process of machine translation system.Since Chinese is one of the principal languages in the world, the research of its generation has great impact both in theoretical and practical aspects.
