Lu Xun founded the two main styles and traditions of modern Chinese prose. Zhou Zuoren defined the concept of prose and advocated it actively. They were intimate brothers and struggled for the freedom the society and human mind together, but finally they chose quite different ways of life resulted from their wildly different temperaments. This article comparatively analyses their prose, emphasized on the different attitude at reality, the development of humanitarianism and individualism, different opinions on revenge and tolerance, and their special artistic characters, aiming at researching their spirit world and better understanding their works and thoughts.
