A Comparative Study Of Prose Style Of The Zhou Brothers

The Zhou brothers(Lu Xun and Zhou Zuoren ) are the most outstanding prose writers since the May 4th Movement of 1919. This dissertation makes a research into the proses of the Zhou brothers from the height of stylistics and is aimed to promote the comparative study of their proses. This paper attempts to explore the major approaches to differentiation and analysis of modern prose styles,and hopes to contribute a little to the construction of stylistic theories.This dissertation is a combination of psychology, the theory of literary form, linguistics and rhetoric. Several traditional theories of Vigour of Style, Ti Xing, Ping Dian and some western ways of criticism such as Formalism, Structuralism, the New Criticism are also used in it. This paper views pure prose as the centre and orthodox of proses, and regards prose poems as a kind of poetic prose, and critical and discussing essays as rational prose. It also tries to probe the variations of the writing style of the Zhou brothers in different forms of literature.The last chapter makes a summary of the originality of "Lu Xun Feng "and "Qi Ming Feng "and their mutual supplement.
