From Elites To Commonalty

This paper settles the evolvement of taste forms of Chinese documentary from 1990s, to state the cultural significance of the documentary's transition from elites to the commonalty and to study the mental connotation which is applied in commonalty documentary under the multi-dimensional background of the post-modern. There are three sections if it: First: the taste forms of the new documentary movement and documentary elites from 1990s. At the end of 1980s, the new enlightenment resulted in the rising of "new documentary movement" which supported by the attitude towards elites in 1990s and the affair-stating strategy of the new documentary overset the traditional model of "pictures and commendatory". In addition, the Chinese –oriented the art of current affair brought the great change in the aspects of the standpoint, visual field and the sphere of the utterance which was being spread from inside and outside of the system, provoking the first prosperity of Chinese documentary development. Individualized stating-pattern for documentary of elites, which has the video and intuitionistic quality of video signals, has come forth. Second: the taste forms of commonalty culture movement and commonalty documentary in 1990s. In the middle of 1990s the commonalty culture sprang out and the commonalty documentary was of vitality. TV stations were going into the commercial operation of the programs with the development of the marketized economic strategies, commonalty documentary living on the forms of column were getting into the corner, therefore, the new affair-stating form of documentary was going into maturity embodying the system-separation to the old ideology. Third: The multi-dimensional taste form for the commonalty documentary in 2000s. The commonalty documentary in the early years of 2000s has shown the post-modern taste features of entertainmentization, mundanization and the new multi-dimensional pattern of Chinese documentary with the commonalty documentary as the domination had come into being as well.
