The current research concerning the relation of emotion and personality is main to concentrate at the big-five personality related research, this research is partial to the qualities type of the physiology and temperament, emphasizing much of an automatic regulating process. We take the more active aspect to study the regulate process during the emotional expression. Given the importance of the affection that ego development has to emotional experience, emotional expression, and emotional regulation, then affecting individual mental health, we choose the relationship between orientation of self-image which .represents the personality individuals wish to have, the impressions they want to make and enhance-weaken emotional expression and emotional regulation as our main contents in the present study. We conceive that along with the development of self-regulation, teenagers who are under context of positive and negative with different intensity, will have different states of emotional experience and emotional expression which fit different orientation of self-images, which means enhance-weaken emotional expression.We choose the students from Grade 6 to Grade 11 as objects to carry on the inquisition to orientation of self-image for having relation with emotion expression. We discovered that along with the rising of the grade, orientation of self-image is becoming more and more stable and clear. At the same time, they formed two types of orientation of self-image — the steady and independent type and the lively type along the dimension of the under berry vs display emotional expression. According to the material we got from the interviews, we designed a questionnaire to invest the emotional experience under four different contexts which including positive-negative and important-common affairs, and emotional expression in the context of interpersonal and alone.The study shows:The intensity individuals feel to important events is bigger to small affairs. And students express their emotions in a manner of inhibited status.For the further study of relationship between orientation of self-image andemotional expression we discover that along with the rising of the grade, lively types of orientation of self-image can highly predict the enhancing expression of positive emotions; and the steady and independent type can highly predict the weakened expression of positive emotions. This phenomenon can also be found in negative emotional expressions. Individuals try to show their orientation of self-image in front of other people.In positive emotions, the intensity of emotional expression of small affairs is stronger than that of important events in the interpersonal circumstances. But in negative affairs, the intensity to negative important events is bigger than negative small affairs, and students enhance more emotional expression in negative important events in to the negative small affairs. It represents unlike to be shown up in Chinese culture. Whatever positive important events and positive small affairs, teenagers tend to enhance the expression while they are interpersonal, the same happens while they are alone except lower grade. There is no obvious difference of emotional expression between interpersonal and alone context in negative important events. Along with the rising of grade, they enhance more interpersonally while they are in the context of negative small affairs.The method of the examination of daily affairs and its role in emotional expressions shared the conclusion that the complexity of content and frequency of daily affairs contributes to regulation. Analysis reveals that the more frequent and complex the daily affaires, the more possibility of the well-being although depress the negative emotions.
