Between The History And The Reality

The subject of my research is the short historical stories in the early 1960's. The historical story is the literature with historical surroundings that takes out subject matter from the admitted history, and is made up of those important historical events and persons. There once were lots of historical stories in the modern literature history. However, with the People's Republic of China establishment, historical stories were left in the cold because of the change of Zeitgeist and some inherent characters. In the early 1960's, the historical stories revived in a certain extent.The thesis analyzes the reasons of the historical stories revival in the early 60's. With the adjustment of literary policy, the atmosphere of the literati became active relatively. Some writers' spirit of criticism and free volition recovered, and they turned their sights to the history and created many historical stories. They built up the relationship between the history and the reality. In virtue of the literary imagination of historical intellectuals, and the historical recollection of difficulty in the reality, the writers expressed their solicitude about the society, the anxiety about the time, and the recollection of traditional spirit of literati. The purposes of the writers were not to make the history recur, but to appraise the reality, which were very cautious comparatively, and not profound.With the jacobinical policy holding the dominant position again, the historical stories that once appeared with the vigor of thoughts, were criticized cruelly because of some reasons that they offended the literary criterions, and the context of them was comparatively complicated. The historical stories witnessed the last course of the Seventeen Literature with other literary works.
