Shadow Expression On Oil Painting

The shadow was important on traditional painting, but modern painting is moreand more complanation, the shadow don't seems that important, even it is neglected.Through discussing the shadow expression condition on representative paintings, theessay points out that the shadow in modern painting isn't the shadow in traditionalmeaning anymore, which has developed greatly along with the time. The appearance ofthe shadow might not need any light or accord with the optics law, yet often appearingin many forms more independently basing on the expressing style. Furthermore, it hasbecome a section of the aesthetic construction, and one of the expression forms ofemotion. We shouldn't neglect the shadow carelessly only taking a glance of the trendof complanation, but observe and deepen its expressing ability with fresh sight andmind. We should understand its existing value on a higher step and pay more attentionto it as well. We should work hard to search the expression form of all the paintingelement to accelerate the development of the oil painting. The essay discusses from such parts. In chapter â…¢, Iexpressed some thoughts of the shadow based on upper analyses. One is that thecomplanation of oil painting and the shadow aren't opposite; one is that the revival ofcurrent Art Concrete will give the shadow more space to develop; and the other one isthe relation of the shadow and the development of current painting in our country. Inconclusion part, I pointed out that we should understand the shadow on a higher step,widen its value and pay corresponding attention to it as well.
