Upon the relations between the benefit of the monarch, the state and the people, theliterati and officials in ancient China have formed two primary conceptions: the ethicaleconomic concept of Confucian and the utilitarian economic concept. To the middle period ofthe Ming Dynasty, a period of enormous changes taking place in the whole society, the twoprimary conceptions were inherited and to some extent were broken though by some peopleand began to present a unitive trend. Qiu Jun and Li Zhi were the representative ones. As themen of great influence in the Ming Dynasty, their conceptions of the relations between thebenefit of the monarch, the state and the people were representative. The inheritance, thedevelopment and the innovation of the conceptions appeared the character of the era and thetrend of the literati and offocials' ideas. So this thesis intends to take example for Qiu Jun andLi Zhi, explain the inherent logic, the content and the character of their conceptions on therelations between the benefit of the monarch, the state and the people. Then according to theanalysis, we try to find the sameness and the difference in their ideology and to explore theinteractional relationship between the ideology and the society, hoping to find the new trendof the relations between the benefit of the monarch, the state and the people in the minds ofthe literati and officials in the Ming Dynasty.
