Debussy is one of the representatives of French Impressionism Music in the end of thel9th century and at the beginning of the 20th century, and has an important status in the development of the history of European music. Impressionism Music style that he represented is the ligament connecting Romantic Music in the 19th century with Modernism Music in the 20th century.Piano music played a vital role in Debussy's music creation, of which 24 piano preludes were created during his mature period of his Impressionism Music style. These 24 piano preludes were the essence of his piano works, which incarnated his music creation style in particular. To make a thorough research on Debussy's 24 piano preludes can deepen our comprehension of his creative style of piano works, which, in addition, can make us know more explicitly about his prominent status and contribution to the history French Music.The present thesis is composed of three parts. The first part is concerned with Debussy's creative style of his piano works; the second part is devoted to a thorough analysis and study of his 24 piano preludes from the perspectives of melody, rhythm, harmony, the mode of tune, the nature of tune, the structure of tune, the form of music so as to present Debussy's musical creative style; and the third part is about the elaboration on the developmental process of piano preludes, thereby giving prominence to Debussy's historical status of his piano preludes.
