Luling is a talented and disputed author in Chinese modern literature history. His outlandish and unique art manner has always been an special existence that can not be ignored. This author was addressed "genius" by some critics because he completed the great spiritual epic Caizhu De Ernvmen only at the age of 19. But this "genius" permanently settled at the imperfect tense. There are so many characters in Luling's works that they actually involved nearly all the stratums of the society. But most of the researchers of Luling just focus on "wanderers" and "maniacs".These two genres can not generalize all the characters in Luling's works. The author of this dissertation has noticed the outstanding phenomenon of "heroes" in both the creations and literal criticism of Luling and has written this paper on this basic point. This dissertation will take the research method of text intensive reading and macro analysis. First, it will concretely analyze the two main genres of characters in Luling's creations—intellectual heroes and understratum heroes. Then it will macroscopically generalize the common characteristics and elements of the "heroes". Finally it will discuss the formation and change of the "hero" idea of Luling himself and primarily deal with the influence of foreign literature on his creation of 1940s.This thesis is divided into four chapters. In chapter one, it will expound the purpose and the origination of this paper, and also put forward the problems which this paper will deal with.In chapter two, it will mainly deal with the intellectual hero characters that take on obvious western individualism in Luling's works. Jiang Chunzu is taken as representative model. In chapter three, it will mainly deal with the understratum heroes in Luling's creation which is divided into positive and dissimilated heroes. In chapter four, it will mainly summarize the characteristics of the "hero" in Luling's works. At the same time, it will analyze where does the "hero" idea of Luling come from, what kind of changes has taken place during his creation period and what had caused the changes. Through the discuss of these questions, this dissertation will primarily clear up the relationship between Luling's creation and foreign literature.
