Pursue Mental Freedom

Scholars have discussed liberty idea and thought of Zhuang Zi. This thesis tries to absorb existed research, and to probe into liberty thought of Zhuang Zi which the author believe as his philosophical major idea, through comparing Chinese and western liberty thought and hackle the thought system of Zhuang Zi.Liberty is a category of western philosophy and politics,but what Zhuang Zi said was Peripateticism. If we consider the major idea of Zhuang Zi philosophy, we must define Peripateticism as liberty.Further more , we must define Peripateticism as mental freedom.In western philosophy, the discussion about liberty is placed with the relation of necessity. The necessity that Zhuang Zi had opened out is fate and Tao. The exhibition of the relation is to comply fate and experience Tao. Because of complying fate, the main body of freedom turns to spirit from reality; due to experiencing Tao, mental freedom can be realized. That is the proofs what makes Peripateticism be mental freedom.What is Peripateticism? It is a level to get rid of all kinds of obstacles and become unconcerned. To define mental freedom as the main point of Zhuang Zi's philosophy need demonstrate the relationship between Peripateticism and the other parts. The emphasis is the relation between the Equality of things and Peripateticism. In essence ,The Equality of things applies relativism to blur the difference of things to establish an attitude :let mind free from dispute and things and become unconcerned. That is the equality of things' main principle, meanwhile, it also reveals that it is a approach to mental freedom. As we all know .Zhuang Zi was a man who was in the chaos caused by war,so he must deal with how to protect himself from all kinds of disasters. As for Zhuang Zi's philosophical major idea is how to protect himself or Peripateticism , Scholars have different views.Finally ,by analyzing his attitude to protecting himself and Peripateticism and his ideal personality, the author can conclude mental freedom is the main idea of Zhuang Zi's phidolophy.
