The present thesis focuses on the study of evidentiality in entertainment news in a Chinese context which is a rather new area to be dealt with. The theoretical framework based on Relevance Theory (RT) depicted in the present thesis will be employed as the central analysing theoretical framework to interpret how evidentiality functions in authentic situation, aiming at reaching some desirable results in order to answer the research questions raised in the thesis. The findings obtained from the present study positively manifest the importance of evidentiality as a separate part, indicating reliability of information in utterances. Meanwhile, the tentative theoretical framework is also applicable and capable of providing sound analysis to evidentiality. It is pointed out that the findings may shed light on either the further study of evidentiality used in other specific Chinese context instead of entertainment news or the further study of RT as a powerful interpretation tool to perceive other communicative performances. Implications on the writing of news is also attainable as to how the reporters should be careful about their word of choice, taking into consideration the functions of evidentiality as well as the explanatory force RT.
