Modernity Phenomenon And Its Contrary Theory

In the widespread criticisms of modernity, many Chinese and Foreign scholars, such as Mark Webber, Juergen Habermas, Matei Calinescu and zhouxian etc, have seen contrary theories of modernity .They also found them particularly from "aesthetic modernity" to the criticism of past-modernity . In fact, Aesthetic modernity, a phenomenon of modernity, takes on the heavy responsibility of demonstrating modernity's ambivalence with enlightened modernity. These treatments discuss mostly under the western situation, yet seldom notice to discover the situiation of developing country such as China. My thesis will set out a certain criticism to the modernity, thinking that aesthetic modernity's putting forward is also a result from the critical tradition and introspections of modernity.The first part named aesthetic modernity of the western language situation. There are three sections in this part. The first section mainly discusses the beginning of aesthetic modernity from four aspects such as the corpus philosophy crisis, modernity, aesthetic independent consciousness and the living style of modern-day citizenry. Then in the second section, I want to explain the aesthetic modernity's content from the different attitude, finally launching the aesthetic modernity in confrontation content. Seeing from the theories premise, It is doubtless to embody its basic human assertion from the personal actuality, but this kind of subject indulges excessively in the ego sensitive faculty and the corpus of the intense emotion, not only facing the danger that corpus may lose, but also facing the groundwork that ego exsits actually at where this more basic problem. Namely, the contrary theory of aesthetic modernity derive from the corpus crisis that modernity itself caused, which in turn will cause the subvert of the person's corpus position, and make aesthetic modernity arriving body depravity. At the same time, aesthetic modernity rebels both tradition and modernity, because of its special body.
