Since late Qing Dynasty, China met an unprecedented sudden turn of society, thinking and culture. Those who were with foresight, one after another, searched for thinking resources to enlighten the people and save the natioa As one of the components of western civilization, Christianity was gradually coming into the vision of Chinese intellectuals. Because Christianity was regarded as cultural aggression accompanying with unequal treaties as its backup force, the colonialism missionary work stirred up Chinese people's resistance. Facing to Christianity from West, Chinese intellectuals were emotionally confused. But the national revolutionary trend of saving the nation and making it strong increasingly became the main trend of the society. The situation urged them to stand up to rescue the country. So numerous intellectuals gradually began to approach Christianity and increase their understanding to it They even advocated setting Jesus' personality as a good example so as to save the natioaThe 1920s became the golden age of missionary work of Christianity in China The constitution of Republic of China gave protection to freedom of religious belief. The ecclesia ran schools, hospitals for Chinese people. And the charity developed. Those conducts made a lot of young intellectuals take a liking to Christianity. Under the special background of the times, a group of intellectuals who were influenced by Christianity were emerging. Laoshe was one of the representatives. In 1922, Laoshe formally accepted baptism in the church of Gangwa City of Beijing and got admission into the community of Christians. After that, Laoshe held the post of Director of Sunday School in Chinese Ecclesia of Gangwa City. Meanwhile he was invited to be the lecturer of Bible class. He did quite a lot ecclesiastical work. Laoshe was greatly influenced by Christianity in his life, and so was his literature work. He portrayed the list of numerous Christian characters in his novels. And his humor style in his literature works was deeply influenced by Christianity as well. As a Christian, Laoshe was not completely like the other writers of the times. He manifested his unique understanding to human nature and his value outlook to religious ethics and religious laws.
