Charles Lamb(1775-1834), who was a well-known essayist in the 18th century in English literature and whose singularity of writing style of Romantic Movement was distinct, was widely applauded by his perpetual work Essay of Elia, by which he himself was cared and admired much by generations. Essay of Elia includes abundance of Greek Mythology, the Bible stories, detailed study of figures, languages and circumstances and the differences of writing style between Lamb and other essays. Essay of Elia ranks him among the most critical critic and pleasant wit and distinguishes him greatly from other Romantic essayists that are major represented by Hazlitt and Duincy, both of whom own unique writing style. This paper is composed of three parts. Part â… is the introduction of Charles Lamb's life's experiences and his works. Part â…¡is the main body of the paper, which analyses the essence of Lamb's essays, including Lamb's essay's striking features, its difference from other essayists and his contributions to Urban Romantic Movement. Part â…¢is the conclusion that claims that Lamb has left us perpetual work Essay of Elia, which is his masterpiece.
