Marguerite. Duras, a French authoress, was born in Vietnam and got back to France at 18 years old.Her poor family background makes her detested and rejected by rich white men while her white man's lineage makes a distance between her and those really poor locals. She drifted between the white and Vietnamese : being far away from white man's "civilization" and irrelevant to it at all but knowing nothing about the history of Vietnam, which makes her at a loss as to what to do. With the characteristic sensitivity of woman, she created an "madwoman ".In their exposition of it, feminists take the image of " madwoman" as a delicate tactics of woman literature, the self- embodiment of women . Showing the image of "madwoman" implies the writer's anxiety and craziness. According to the psychoanalysis of feminists, women insanity belongs to the realm of culture, but not biological phenomenon. The author thinks that to choose "madwoman" as the theme is not accidental but subjective. By the close-reading, the author attempts to explain the relation between the "madwoman" Duras and the writer herself and woman literature from the aspect of the study of narration and feminism, thus goes further into the value and meaning of writing to women , especially to such an authoress, Duras, who is in entanglement of two cultures and goes through double oppression (patriarchy and colonialism).
