Explosive Emotion Out Of Anguish

The literature of Culture Revolution is supposed to be an original text which is used to encode the enigma of that period and the spiritual resources. However, the writings that were publicly published were scarce due to the constrictions the politics imposed upon the literature. The concept of "potential writing" was introduced, which changed the traditional idea of history of contemporary literature. These works which began to rise to the surface, and began to attract our attention have become the most powerful testimony of a hard age. The first group of writers who made the potential writing took the stage in 1949 or so, they were labeled as " liberal writers" while the new orientation of contemporary Chinese literature was being established, the representatives were Shen Congwen, Wu Ming-shi and Chen yinkue. After 1949 the poets of Qi Yue group stood out. Their writings are more or less tinged with the hue of autobiography in reality or in spirit. The third group were composed of the writers who were excluded in the campaign of anti-right wing. Potential writing is a literature entity which takes a shape of various levels. First is the exploration conducted by the poets of new poetics at the marginal edge. Second is the potential writing of the relatively young "right-wing" writers. And also it includes the poems composed by Guo Xiaochuan in the political school. While the Culture Revolution was developing, the activities of Underground Poetics Association launched by the young sensitive writers foretell the impending of a new age.Niu Han who is the important member of Hu Feng Group is discussed in my present thesis. In the historical horizon when the literature was lost, he refinded the poetics. The poems wrote by Niu Han during the Culture Revolution won the poets' special precious love, were regarded as the best in his whole poems.
