The Consciousness Supplement On The May 4～(th) New Cultural And The New Literature

The paper lays primary emphasis on examining and expounding the interactive relation between the Consciousness Supplement, the supplement of Minguo Daily, and the May 4^th New Cultural Movement and the New Literature, the specific social change of the time, i.e. how the New Cultural Movement accelerated the birth of the Consciousness Supplement, and how the Consciousness Supplement conversely promoted the development of the May 4^th New Cultural Movement. The aim of the study is, on one hand, to give a review of the characteristic style and features at the beginning of 1920's when contemporary Chinese culture and literature centered on the media; on the other, from one side aspect the important role that the new type supplements had played in the early historical stages of Chinese Modernization process. As a consequence, a conclusion will be draw: that is, the results of study, on one hand, provide some practical experiences for the development of the supplement of the modern time, on the other, which is considered to be more important, corroborate such a media theory: the adequate information circulation, esp. the proper employment of mass media can make a great contribution to the social development of a country.The whole paper is made up of three parts. The introduction part discusses the value of studying newspaper supplements and the purpose and meaning to investigate the Consciousness Supplement. There are three chapters in the body part.
