Translation activities have long history. But it has become the topic in translation history whether or not contents expressed by one language can be totally expressed by another language. Quantities of translated works prove that it is translatable between different languages and limits of translatability do exist because of different languages and cultures. Now the research about limits of translatability is not perfect. No one has even studied this between Chinese and Uyghur. So basing on translation theories, combining Chinese and Uyghur characteristics, the author discusses systematically limits of translatability from Chinese into Uyghur in this thesis. This article has five sectors. The first is preface which describes theoretical and practical significance of translatable limits and research situation. The second is concerned with theoretical basis of translatability and translatable limits, as well as the relation between translatability and limits of translatability. The third is the core of the article. Chinese and Uyghur belong to different language families. There might be limits of translatability on linguistic levels: sounds, writing, lexeme, grammar, etc. Language reflects culture. Different languages contain different cultures.
