Study On Wu Yue Chun Qiu

Although there are many achievements about the literary values of Wu Yue Chun Qiu in the academic circles, there are few synthetical researches. This dissertation makes a new judgment that the literary genre of Wu Yue Chun Qiu is a rudimentary form of the Chinese historical novel from the perspective of the development and evolvement of the novel's conceptions. Based on the other scholars' views, this dissertation draws a conclusion that Wu Yue Chun Qiu have multiple themes which are showing the justice of revenge and repayment, carrying forward the principle of faithful and honest, benevolence and uprighteousness, and discussing the philosophy of rise and decline, success or failure. This dissertation lays special emphasis on the analysis of series of characters divided into emperor's counselors, monarchs, and treacherous court officials, such as Wu Zixu, Fanli, Wenzhong, Helü, Fuchai, Goujian, Fei Wuji and Bopi, and contrasts the characters with the ones in Tso Chuan, Guo Yu and Shih Chi and so on. This dissertation analyses the art of structure of the Wu Yue Chun Qiu that including the plots' organizing, the main clue of depiction and the rhythm of plots. The dissertation also sum up the characteristic of the language of Wu Yue Chun Qiu that it mixed the prose with verse, brought in the ballads and the poems, and used many trope means.
