Belonging to different artistic fields, both novels and gardens came into being and developed in the cradle of Chinese civilization, and both are under the influence of Chinese national identities and culture. Besides, they have the aesthstic course that penetrated into each other. In the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty, classical novels and garden art reached a brilliant summit. A large number of gardens inspired novelists and they appeared in the novels directly. Moreover, gardens play an important role in background setup, plot progress, image molding, theme foiling, and spacial narration. Likewise, novel art and garden thought have great similarities in design, configuration, implicit expression, imagism, and details description.It can be found from a survey that garden description in novels meets with the developmental law of novel art. The similarity in the design of novels and gardens shows the maturity of ancient novels. At the same time, classical novels play a significant role in enriching gardens' landscape, enlightening the beauty of the garden and keeping abundant historical materials of gardens.
