This thesis aims at surveying the influences of Communication Strategies (CSs) on the oral communication in examination condition and at searching the relationship between the CSs variables and oral test achievement. The tape transcript corpus of 68 PETS testees of Yantai Vocational College has been analyzed. The CSs used by the students, including the achievement strategy, the turn-taking strategy and the meaning-negotiation strategy, have been categorized. Correlation analysis between oral English achievement and CSs has been carried out. The results, analyzed by SPSS 11.0, indicate that:1)A11 the 14 variables of CSs have been used by the students. As for the three variables of meaning-negotiation strategies, there is no statistical significant difference between PETS1 and PETS2 testees.2) Regarding to topic changing strategy and expression of non-understanding strategy, one-way ANOVA analysis indicates that there is no statistical significant difference between the three segments of PETS-2.3) Correlation analysis shows that the turn-taking strategy and meaning-negotiation strategy of PETS 1 candidates are positively correlated. There is a significant statistical negative correlation between rum-taking strategy and oral English achievement. As for the PETS2 candidates, their achievement strategy, the turn-taking strategy and the meaning-negotiation strategy all have no statistical significant correlation with oral achievement. However, the turn-taking strategy is positively correlated with achievement strategy and meaning-negotiation strategy.4) As for the topic avoidance strategy and message abandonment strategy, there is no statistical significant correlation between the high-level group and low-level group of bothThis thesis also discussed the factors affecting the CSs, such as language proficiency, task differences, personality and the learning condition.
