Study of Confucian classics of Hunan in late Qing Dynasty was an important content of the Confucianism of region; it is made up of Lixue, the Jinwen classics and the Guwen classics basically. There are typical representative figures in each area. The men who studied Lixue were Zeng Guofan, Luo Zenan, Liu Rong, Guo Song tao,etc. ,the men who studied Jinwen classics were Wei Yuan, Wang Kaiyun, Pi Xirui , and the men who studied Guwen classics were Wang Xianqian, Ye Dehui. Their thought differed from each other. There was strong passing on in Hunan of Qing Dynasty in Lixue, especially regarded Yue Lu academy centre. This should trace back to the Hu-xiang School in the period of the Southern Song Dynasty. By season for late Qing, the national administration of Lixue was promoted greatly by Zen Guofan School and the empty side was abandoned, which implied of the internal saints and external kings. As for the Jinwen classics, Wei Yuan, Wang Kaiyun and Pi Xirui had their own characteristics and couldn't be regarded as one school. Wei Yuan proved that study of Confucian classics should return to sublime words with deep meaning of western Han Dynasty, Wang Kaiyun's putting Zhuang Zi into Confucian classics was an individual action, and Pi Xirui was very fair in study of classics, which was known as master. Hunan's study of Confucian classics in Qing stage demonstrated its variety; there were various kinds of person who studied the classics. This was a characteristic of study of Confucian classics of Hunan. In comparison area, the Jinwen classics were closely linked to the tendency of the times, which was the important component of the study of Jinwen classics. Lixue took the course of its own especially and was people always have had different judgments, in any case, as the academic discussion of region, especially putting it into the historical environment at that time to investigate, what it showed to us was not simply a narrow region value .
