On The Academic Value Of Dialect

Dialect is not only the first dialectology work of first in the history of our country, but also the most important work of dialectology in ancient china .It is a" hang the book that all life does not correct ", having an important position in the history of dialectology , even still playing an indispensable role in today's dialect study. This thesis probes into the academic value of dialect again in two perspectives, including dialectology and lexicology. Yang Xiong turns the studying visual angle to the spoken language for the first time, enters the research field of language. Yang Xiong start individual method to investigate dialect, which is the forerunner of the later investigation on dialect, He has provided rough dialect division and proposed such concepts as Transfer of Language and Tong Yu ,which is of academic value. Transfer of Language was an originated term and there was no concrete definition about it. Later on, many scholars entrusted new meanings to it, and made it become the typical sensing term. The thesis attempts to return its producing meaning, that is to say the Transfer of Language is only the dialect words of transferred sound. Usually, academic circle, consider Tong Yu Common Language, which is deep-rooted. However, the author has examined all the usages and examples about Tong Yu in Dialect. As a result, the author found that Tong Yu refers to accepted language in certain areas. In terms of lexicology, Dialect can not only help us get a general understanding of lexicology appearance, but also a bridge for us to know its changes at all times.
