Katherine Mansfield is the master of English short story in the 20th century. She devoted her short life into the creation of short story and the innovation of narrative technique, which make prominence contribution to the development of modern English literature. Although the novelist and her fictions draw continuous attention in the long run of study on Mansfield, her child story lacks enough research and deep investigation from the critics. The thesis adopts Carl Guvstav Jung's unconsciousness theory as the theoretical basis to analyze Mansfield's deep psychological world through her child story. The main body of the thesis is composed of three chapters. Chapter I concludes that Mansfield's motivation of creating child story is the esult of her unconsciousness in the deep psychology, her special experience and the contemporary literary influence. Chapter II analyzes the child story in detail, sums up the theme of Mansfield's child story— the fear against adult world—and points out that the theme is the reflection of her personal unconsciousness. Chapter III makes a deeper investigation of the child story and finds out Mansfield's admiration of child, her yearning for the child psychological world and her satire on the dissimilated adult world. It is the reflection of childhood as an archetype in her collective unconsciousness. Through her child story, Katherine Mansfield rebuild her deep psychological world.
