Margaret Drabble is a contemporary British woman novelist who receives serious attention in literary world. Following her own experience and perception, Drabble not only presents women's painstaking struggle in a world which is not so easy, but more importantly suggests and tests a possible way of existence for women. My thesis is a general analysis of Margaret Drabble's three masterly novels: The Middle Ground (1981), The Radiant Way (1990) and The Peppered Moth (2000). By an elaborate analysis of women relationships between sisters, sister substitutes, and mothers and daughters, Drabble, the persistent midland explorer between the ideal and the realities, succeeds in digging an attainable pattern of female life in the contemporary world.
