The Impact Of Learning Styles On College English Teaching

With the acceleration of China's modernization and the increase of cooperation and communication between China and other countries, education has advanced greatly. To be in line with such rapid advances, college English teaching has to adapt itself to form a streamlined education system. It must make better use of the results of modern education theories and focus itself on improving the students' practical abilities to use English. In such circumstances, the teaching ideology must be changed from " teacher-centered" and "knowledge-focused" to "student-centered" and "competence-focused". In the case of second-language in non-English environment, emphasis should be laid on the training of Chinese learners' autonomy ability to learn English and the respecting of individual learner differences.
