Autonomous learning plays a very important role in interpreting,especially for MTI students.However,almost every MTI student conducts autonomous learning of interpreting,while the effects of their autonomous learning are different.Based on Littlewood theory that autonomous learning depends on willingness?motivation?and ability?strategy?,this thesis is written to find out learning motivation and learning strategy's influence to the effect of MTI student's autonomous learning of interpreting.The author took the questionnaire as the main methodology,generated the questionnaire with the help of SoJump and sent it to 52 MTI students on Class2020 in China Foreign Affairs University on December 25th,2019.The author sent one-yuan-WeChat-red-envelope to each research subject to ensure a high response rate and the validity of the statistics.As a result,all of the 52 questionnaires were completed.The author found that both learning motivation and learning strategy have an influence to the effect of MTI student's autonomous learning of interpreting.MTI students with intrinsic learning motivation of more curiosity for interpreting and more sense of achievement from autonomous learning,extrinsic motivation of a stronger desire to become a professional interpreter and who use the meta-cognitive strategies of adjusting learning plans accordingly and choosing targeted materials for practice and the affective strategies of a lasting interest in interpreting and the confidence to become a professional interpreter are more likely to conduct a more effective autonomous learning of interpreting.Based on research findings,suggestions for an effective autonomous learning of interpreting are made.Firstly,schools should provide more places for MTI students to conduct autonomous learning and organize more interpreting-related activities.Secondly,teachers should monitor several students'autonomous learning.Thirdly,students should participate in more interpreting practice,choose practice materials that they are interested in and strategies which work well on them.
