Yukechi Fukujawa(1834-190 l)was one of authors of Japanese modern culture, and he played a very important role in the formetion of Japanese mordern thoughts of his many works, there were no professional works on philosophy although, abundant philosophic thoughts were contained in his illuminative thoughts. These illuminative thoughts, which he devoted himself to, could change the thinking ways and values of Japanese citizens. His philosophic thoughts played a leading port in the development of Japanese modernization.This paper is on the basis of science Yukechi Fukujawa advocated, and viewpoints on learning of science act as a center of this paper. At first, it reveals social and historical backgrounds and theoretic source which made Yukechi Fukujawa's philosophic thoughts of this kind. Secondly, with his valuing natural science it clarifies his world view and dialectic thinking which inclined to materialism. Thirdly, this paper researches into ethic and moral thinking from four aspects, namely viewpoints on wisdom and moral whose center was wisdom, points on duty and benefit which believed disputing benefit meant disputing truth, views on equality which thought man's right was endowed by god, and the understanding of moral standard of religion. At last, according to Yukechi Fukujawa's attaching important to wisdom, this paper clarifies that his social and historical viewpoints were truly views the development of mass spirits, and that he described the Utopia for us.At the end of paper, the substance and historical limitation of Yukechi Fukujawa's philosophical thoughts are analysed In spite of discord and contradiction in his philosophical thoughts, we must accept that his philosophical thoughts played an important and leading port in the development of Japanese modernization and policy for building nation.
